Overall Program Objectives

The World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC) serves as an excellent opportunity for researchers and clinician-scientists from around the globe to share their discoveries in the applications of Molecular Imaging for effective diagnosis, staging and treatment of diseases and injury.

The goal for WMIC is to allow clinicians the opportunity to stay up to date in their clinical practice or within a specific specialty.  By attending the WMIC scientists and researchers advance their work and benefit from presenting their results and learning of new advances from the formal and informal scientific exchange of ideas in the advances and applications of Molecular Imaging.  The WMIC will cover Molecular Imaging advances that include new research findings and applications of Molecular Imaging.

Overall Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program participants should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the strength and weakness of each major imaging modality for molecular imaging, and identify novel hybrid imaging techniques in the field.
  2. Recognize common principles behind molecular imaging probes for each individual imaging modality, as well as the potential of multi-modality probes.
  3. Recognize the potential of molecular imaging for depicting and following specific molecular and cellular processes in vivo.
  4. Describe the stages of molecular imaging investigation which include identifying specific biological problems and identify in vitro and in vivo molecular imaging techniques to resolve these problems.
  5. Evaluate the potential, strengths and weaknesses of molecular imaging for specific organs and major diseases.
  6. Describe the principles of molecular imaging techniques for guiding and assessing therapeutic interventions, including drug development and therapy.
  7. Recognize the potential, strengths and weaknesses of specific molecular imaging for preclinical, clinical, and translational research.
